The Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel has a set new standard for Ballrooms in Bangkok with the opening of their renovated multi-purpose and removable partition room.

The Hotel is extremely pleased with the result which is spectacular, user friendly, has proven very popular with hirers and patrons and rates as world class.

EEC Lincolne Scott and Vision Design Studio were key participants in the project not only for design but also assisting the hotel to project manage the entire process.

The project incorporates the latest technology audio visual and lighting equipment and provides substantial flexibility in the use of the spaces. A high intensity of mechanical and electrical services has been provided to meet these needs and whilst they are readily accessible, they have been cleverly concealed by the design of the space.

In order to minimise lost income from downtime of the Ballrooms, the construction program was extremely tight.

The team was able to meet the challenge and allowed the planned opening function, which was attended by the Prime Minister of Thailand, to be a great success.

Heat recovery wheels were used in the air conditioning design to reduce the impact of the additional heat loads on the existing chilled water system.  These units allow the incoming outside air to be pre-cooled by the outgoing exhaust air. This provides capital savings by not needing to upgrade the chillers and saves on operating costs as an added benefit to the hotel.

EEC Lincolne Scott were responsible for all the mechanical, electrical and fire protection services which included the upgrade of some hotel infrastructure.
